Bacon Caprese Salad

Superb classic summer salad made better by adding bacon!


  • 1 pound of mozzarella

  • 2 to 3 tomatoes

  • 4 strips of bacon

  • 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar

  • 1/4 cup of honey

  • 1/2 cup of fresh basil leaves

  • Dash of fresh cracked black pepper

  • Pinch of salt

  • Drizzle of extra virgin olive oil


  1. Add the balsamic vinegar and honey in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Keep stirring until it reduces to a thick sauce. Remove from heat.

  2. In the meantime, fry bacon - blot with paper towel and crumble

  3. Slice tomatoes - about 1/4 inch thick

  4. Slice mozzarella - about 1/4 inch thick

  5. Arrange the cheese and tomatoe slices by alternating on a platter

  6. Garnish with basil leaves and bacon bits

  7. Drizzle the balsamic honey glaze over the salad

  8. Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the salad

  9. Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil over the salad

It makes a handsome looking salad and tastes wonderful. Enjoy!
