It's All About The Bacon
Destination Bacon is traveling the country to find the most delicious bacon dishes at restaurants/diners, pubs, bakeries and festivals. We are also making tasty bacon recipes and sharing them with you so you can be in "hog heaven", too!
We Made Bacon Snack Crackers
We made these awesome treats! Easy and delicious - great for parties or a snack. Here's how to make them; Ingredients: -Club Crackers -Bacon (thin cut not thick) -Brown Sugar -Your favorite BBQ rub -Red Pepper Flakes (optional) or Cayenne Instructions: -Preheat oven to 350 degrees -Line the crackers on a baking rack -Cut the bacon to fit on top of the cracker -Sprinkle brown sugar on top -Sprinkle the BBQ rub on top -Sprinkle the red pepper flakes onto Place in oven for 20-30 minutes or until bacon is done to your liking. Maple Bacon Walnut Coffee Cake
Fantastic breakfast or dessert coffee cake! Here's how to make it; INGREDIENTS: -6 or 7 strips of bacon -2 1/2 cups of flour -1 cup packed brown sugar -1/2 Tsp salt -1/3 cup cold butter -2 Tsp baking powder -1/2 Tsp baking soda -1/2 Tsp cinammon -1/4 Tsp nutmeg -2 large eggs at room temp -1 1/2 cups buttermilk -1/2 cup maple syrup -1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce -1/2 cup chopped walnuts DIRECTIONS: -Preheat oven to 350 degrees -Cook bacon, set aside on paper towel, crumble when cool -Combine the flour, brown sugar and salt in a large bowl -Cut 1/4 of the cold butter and crumble into mix -Combine baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon & nutmeg . Then add to flour mixture -In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, buttermilk, syrup and apple sauce -Then gradually stir mixture into flour mixture. Combine well -Pour spread into a greased 13 x 9 baking pan. -Place the 1/2 cup of butter (in slices) on top -Sprinkle bacon and walnuts on top -Bake for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean ENJOY!
We decided to add a smoky savory flavor to our salsa by adding bacon and liquid smoke! You can use whatever fresh ingredients you have on hand to change this recipe to your liking! Here's how we made ours; INGREDIENTS: -6 slices of thick cut bacon -1 roma tomato -1 red tomato -half an onion -half a red bell pepper -half a green bell pepper -a handful of cilantro -some jalapeño (or your favorite hot pepper) -2-3 cloves of garlic -salt and pepper -liquid smoke INSTRUCTIONS: -Cut your bacon up into pieces and fry. Set on paper towel to drain -Cup up all of the ingredients -Place in food processor and blend together. -Add liquid smoke (about a dash or two) -Serve with your favorite chips, on top of fish, on a taco, etc ENJOY!
